I Will Never Eat Another Pain Pill as Long as I Live
I wanted to thank all of you at RDD, you have definitely changed my life. I am doing really well, I finally started sleeping well, just like you said it just took some time.
I feel like I did when I was 30 years old, and I’m 48 now. It’s weird how much my diet has changed, as I lived off of sweets a lot before when I was on morphine, and now I cant stand sweets at all. I have quit smoking and I run a mile every morning and work out in the gym for an hour. I have lost 30 lbs, and I feel great. You know my father had his third heart attack (after a triple bypass) and died when he was 51 years old (He too was on a heavy pain script for many years) and that always scared me. I guess it turns out that I have my mothers heart, and not my fathers. I did quit drinking coffee for 6 weeks and I had a headache for that entire time, which aspirin did not do anything for it, I finally took three sips of coffee, and my headache went away just like that (go figure?) So needless to say I am drinking coffee again, which is ok with me.
I wanted to thank all of you, and especially Jim & the other paramedic that put up with me. They were great! Of course I don’t remember any of it, but thats what my wife tells me. The way I feel still right now, is that I will NEVER eat another pain pill as long as I live! I tried so hard to get off of those things a half dozen times before I came down to RDD, I would go 6-7 days without meds, and I was so sick and in a hell, that I would start taking my perscription again. You know that my pain doctor always called the day before I was to go in and get my scripts, I did not tell him that I went to RDD, and after I returned from RDD, they called (the receptionist) the day before my time of the month was to go in to pick up my scripts, and I told him that I had QUIT, and he called me back in 10 minutes trying to get me to come in and go on a different type of morphine perscrition! I told him that I was finished with pills, and he kept trying to get me on something different. Go figure, is the guy just plain stupid, or what? I finally just told him that I was never coming back & hung up. Needless to say I was very furious with him.
Oh well, Thank you all for saving my life. The program that you have going on down there is awesome, and I know it will save many lives. keep up the good work.
Sincerly,
Michael
